NASA uses generative AI to plan Perseverance drives on Mars

NASA's Perseverance rover completed the first drives on another world that were planned by generative AI in a demonstration led by the agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Dec. 8 and 10. The test showed that AI can take on the full planning step of rover driving that mission teams normally perform manually — a milestone detailed in a Phys.org report.
